Drifters

Didn't expect to feel this way
As the doves fly high from this hometown parade
Nothing's quite the same as it was before
And the only difference now is that it can't be ignored

If indifference is key, the door's still locked
Because it doesn't fit the hole of the time it's cost
Walking with a thought that I can't comprehend
Only strangers in this place becoming drifters again

Well pretty soon we'll skip another town
Neon lights to fill us up with no one else around
The big top's shining, all cannonballs mining for a circus clown
But pretty soon we'll skip another town

No one expects that they won't stay
Tripping on the sidewalk as they're walking away
Something's always missing but we never can see
We'll close another chapter on the life that we lead

Well pretty soon we'll skip another town
Neon lights to fill us up with no one else around
The big top's shining, all cannonballs mining for a circus clown
But pretty soon we'll skip another town

Vagabonds to mark this trail
Two squatters gone to jump the rails
Some distance made but as it stands
To wind up back where we began
We've wound up back where we began

Well pretty soon we'll skip another town
Neon lights to fill us up with no one else around
The big top's shining, all cannonballs mining for a circus clown
But pretty soon we'll skip another town
Pretty soon we'll skip another town
