There's A Light (But It's Not Coming On Anymore)

Grief stricken dumbstruck, it's getting away
Gotta get myself some gravity and find an escape
I've gotta find a release, I need to try and relax
But once you get to the edge there ain't no going back

Well I've been here so long, now I'm running on fumes
These remains of the day, they're like secrets exhumed
We don't know what we're doing, we could never admit
We're all pushing and shoving just to try and exist

So hold on tight, don't bother looking down tonight
Down the laneway there's a light but it's not coming on anymore

Clutching each meaning, addictions unclear
Every reason unsettled to be miserable here
Though when we've stopped moving on, there remains an excuse
To forget what's been done and take in some abuse

It's like all that's worth saving as crumbled away
With no memories to share, only debts to repay
Now for your poet a liar, every cynic a saint
Nothing much to admit but what you faught to obtain

So hold on tight, don't bother looking down tonight
Down the laneway there's a light but it's not coming on anymore

So every time anybody's thinking of you
Every message returned but they're all so confused
They're never realized... and no one hears them anymore

It doesn't make sense as we run for the door
Everybody's been screaming but they don't know what for
In an instant you see it but it's coming too late
You're not coming around, you're not coming today

So hold on tight, don't bother looking down tonight
Down the laneway there's a light but it's not coming on, it's not coming on

Yeah hold on tight, don't bother looking back tonight
Down the laneway there's a light but it's not coming on anymore
It's not coming on anymore, it's not coming on anymore
It's not coming on anymore
