It's The Thought That Counts

Monday passed by without answers
I guess Tuesday won't change anything
I've been trying so hard but it's futile
In this long line of monkeys, I'm king

Perceptions get thrown on like shackles
Still attached to the things you believe
Don't we ever get tired of pretending?
All these lines that our brains still receive

But it's the thought that counts you see
Were you thinkin' of me? Ain't someone thinkin' of me?

This holiday still seems so hollow
From these clips and the phrases we speak
While the yelling gets muffled to whispers
It's blistered in what we don't need

But I don't have the time for excuses
If you hate me then hate me and leave
I'd rather be finished than played with
At least then we could finally concede

But it's the thought that counts you say
Were you thinkin' that way? There's no one thinkin' that way

A new attack rolls off my back
I'm sure that's how it all appears
Always wondering how this started up
But it trails on through the years

I'm so alone in this I fear
But no one seems to care 'round here

But it's the thought that counts you see
Were you thinkin' of me? Ain't someone thinkin' of me?

But it's the thought that counts you say
Were you thinkin' that way? There's no one thinkin' that way
