Bankruptcy Blues

This fucking rent is overdue again
I'm working to the bone and I don't have no time for friends
My student loan's a storm cloud overhead
It's still hanging in the distance, as I pass out in my bed

They told me I was brilliant once before
But that don't buy no castle walls, it still comes up too short
I'm really not too sure where things dropped off
But I have had enough, now I've had enough

If someone here could save me, I would praise them like a God
They'd be my falsest idol love and we'd search for lightning rods
To find me electricity, because the flame is surely gone
It always leaves me wondering where the hell these things went wrong

My bills are overdue and growing still
I really need some groceries, but it's a wish that's unfulfilled
Maybe time will heal these scars of greed
Though it's all I ever count on, it's always time I need

Until my former talents turn to waste
Who has time for dreaming when there's money to be made?
They say one day I'll look back here and laugh
But look at where I'm at, look at where I'm at

If someone here could save me, I would praise them like a God
They'd be my falsest idol love and we'd search for lightning rods
To find me electricity, because the flame is surely gone
It always leaves me wondering where the hell these things went wrong
Where did things go wrong? Where did things go wrong?

Until you're in my worn out shoes, keep your fingers to yourself
If you want to tell me how to live, You should know that it won't help
No these condescending phrases aren't really helping anything
I just need to find some shelter, 'cause I can't stop panicking

The fear it drives me off to try and find myself some help
But I can never seem to find the dream that gets me out

If someone here could save me, I would praise them like a God
They'd be my falsest idol love and we'd search for lightning rods
To find me electricity, because the flame is surely gone
It always leaves me wondering where the hell these things went wrong
Where did things go wrong? Where did things go wrong?

I look outside and watch these stars alone
I wanna go back home, I wanna go back home
