Awkward Lines

I'll wait for you in a crowded room
Where all the smoke, it will leave me blinded
Though in my head it ain't nothing new
With awkward lines, we can strive to find it

In every word where you think you're wrong
These repetitions all sound the strangest
I won't confess, but it won't be long
We'll mark the past and then try to change it

And in this stormy weather
As the rain starts pouring down
We'll pause to trade these awkward lines we've found

I've waited here almost half my life
With clips and phrases I've torn to pieces
Through the haze until it's out of sight
The answer's clear but we've never seen it

Now in this room where we find ourselves
Some inhibitions still tired and cracking
Unlike the walls that we built so well
With faltered plans that all met their passings

And in this stormy weather
As the rain starts pouring down
We'll pause to trade these awkward lines we've found

There's nothing to say, there's nothing to do
I've waited a lifetime to hear it from you
And somewhere it's safe, well somewhere it's true
Somewhere in spaces belonging to you
Now I belong to you

I'll wait for you in a crowded room
Where all the smoke, it will leave me blinded
Though in my head it ain't nothing new
With awkward lines, we won't be misguided
With awkward lines, we won't be misguided
